I thought I had issues until I came to prison. Then I realized I wasn’t doing that bad after all.

I will never forget the first time I heard Jason Bales say that to me. And that just about sums him up. There is no one else like him. He is definitely one of a kind. He is a writer, author, comedian, horrible singer(just kidding), great song writer And the happiest person I’ve ever met. And it’s never a good idea to ask him what he is really thinking about. He starts talking about charged particles in a vacuum and how they are affected by the electromagnetic spectrum…… Then your eyes glaze over.

Did you know that anti gravity is not actually “anti gravity”. It’s actually called field distortion neutralization….. Never heard of it, but that’s what you hear when he starts talking about anti gravity and some guy named Pablo Rosado from the Max Planck institute for Gravitational Physics. I guess Jason read somewhere That Pablo Rosado said that anti gravity was pure bullshit, so now Jason Bales is going to prove him wrong…. Ok so this is how smart people fight. Except I don’t think Pablo Rosado even knows that there is a fight. He has no idea who Jason Bales is. Does anyone really know who Jason Bales is?

So who is Jason Bales?

Lyricist. Storyteller. Incarcerated Visionary. Jason Bales, born July 3, 1983, in Connell, Washington, is currently serving a life sentence without parole at the Oklahoma State Reformatory. Despite his circumstances, he has become a prolific author and lyricist, with 12 books published and over 20 more on the way. Diagnosed with Asperger’s in his late 30s, Jason finally found clarity for the struggles that shaped his early life. He channels his deep inner world into writing, stories, songs, satire and has written more than 2,000 different song lyrics. Even after a prison shakedown confiscated his interfacility reassigned digital recorder, his words survived on paper and memory. He comes up with ideas while pacing a prison hallway or sitting amid noise, drawing inspiration from chaos. His work includes poetic memoirs, children’s adventures, sharp satire, and prison parodies.

Thats him…. But I don’t think anyone will ever really know who he is. He lives in worlds that only he can see. I have only seen a glimpse of what they look like. I am just glad that he is willing to bring a little bit of his world out to ours. If you could only see what is to come from him.

Jason Bales is the first author that I have Worked with and I will never forget the day my niece asked me read what the wizard wrote. It was about about a 50 pound toad named Warto. I an 72 and it made me cry. That is one of many books by Jason that will be published in the future. I can only hope that you can look past him being in prison and focus on the quality of his work.
